Dan Decker -
AMM - What has entered your life first, bodybuilding or modeling?
Dan - I will have to say bodybuilding entered my life long before modeling. I started lifting weights in high school.
AMM - Is it a struggle for you to maintain your body in such muscular condition?
Dan - I really have never had a problem with body fat. So I always look muscular. I think body fat plays a big roll in how muscular you look. So I guess it's not really that hard for me. Keeping muscle mass is something you have to always maintain though; if you don't use it you lose it - LOL.
AMM - Which do you prefer to appear in more at the moment, fitness magazines or fashion magazines?
Dan - It would be great to be able to appear in a fashion mags also because let's face it, Fashion is where the money's at! Then It would be great to do both. But I really don't think with my size I will get much fashion work. Hopefully someday the trend will change for more guys like myself to do more fashion work.
AMM - Yeah, and then little guys like myself after that! LOL - To you, what does the term "model" means?
Dan - Someone to advertise or display a product with a certain look. I think almost anybody can model just depends on what's being advertised. So there is a place in this business for almost anyone.
AMM - What have you not done in modeling that you would love to do in the near future?
Dan - Boy, I'M sure I could go on forever about that LOL! I would love to see myself on a cover of Muscle & Fitness or just to have a publication in there would be awesome. I think it would also be nice to have a contract with a supplement company, that would be the greatest. Landing work with International male, Body Alive, Hotskins, Malabu wouldn't be all that bad either. But it's a business everyone wants a bite out of that has good looks and muscle.
AMM - I knew that question would make your head spin a bit. At what point do you consider yourself a professional male model instead of an aspiring model?
Dan - I'm not really sure if you can say there is a point of becoming professional. I would like to say once you have been published and paid for it but then again there are a lot of people that have done years worth of print and have never made anything. I think when your name is well known with photographers in your particular modeling field then you are definitely considered professional.
AMM - Are you always in a ready condition for a photoshoot?
Dan - I will have to say I always am photo ready. But I can always look better with a week notice. I know many people will hate me for saying that LOL.
AMM - Yeah, I'm one of the "many people", : ) perhaps I shouldn't have asked. On a more personal note, what do you like to do for fun?
Dan - Outside of being in the gym I love hanging out at the beach. I also like to go clubbing once in a while, but I don't drink. I'm also into muscle cars, I own a 97 Z-28 that I have put a little money into but I always want to go faster. I'm also kinda into metal detecting, I think it's really neat to find a coin that someone dropped a century ago. I found a 1893 Mexican Paso last fall with my detector. Someday if I ever get rich I would like to make it one of my main hobbies and go diving in the Florida Keys treasure hunting.
AMM - When that happens just remember I love treasure hunting too! And I can fit well in a suitcase. What would a dream job be like to you?
Dan - A dream job for me would be doing what I do best and inspiring and helping others on the way.
AMM - How would you describe yourself to someone who has never met you or seen your pictures?
Dan - Im always interested in what people have to say...
